Corner guards belong to a collection of metal products commonly referred to as wall protection. Wall protection includes wall guards, bumper bars, crash rails, hand rails, and chair rails. In addition to wall protection stainless steel is also used for door protection and this includes push plates and kick plates.
Wall protection is commonly used to prevent damage to the wall surface from wheeled carts, chairs, and any other objects that pass through these areas. These are usually high traffic areas that are subjected to damage from the movement of supplies, luggage, carts, equipment, and furniture.
Corner guards are fabricated in many different materials, sizes, and thicknesses dependent on the application. For example, if the corner guard is for an industrial application then it may be fabricated in high strength steel with a thickness of 1/4” or more. For an office setting stainless steel is recommended with a thickness of 18 gauge (0.048”). The flanges of the corner guard are also customized according to the size you require.
Installation of corner guards is fairly straightforward. If they are installed on drywall or wood then a polyurethane construction adhesive is best. This installation does not require any fasteners so it looks clean and neat. If the corner guard is to be installed on concrete, brick, or any uneven rough surface then fasteners are recommended. Please be aware that other wall and door protection products may require fasteners depending on the overall size and weight of the product. Items such as bumper bars, crash rails, hand rails, push plates, and kick plates are almost always installed with fasteners. A qualified installer will always ensure that the product is mounted safely.
We fabricate corner guards according to customer’s specifications. When ordering please specify the material, thickness, flange sizes, length, and whether you require any mounting holes.
